The Parklane Foundation was proud to host a fantastic afternoon celebrating the launch of our new Inclusive Golf initiative, a project focused on making golf more accessible, welcoming and community-driven for people of all backgrounds and abilities.
The event brought together partners, local organisations, supporters and community members to highlight how sport can play an important role in improving wellbeing, building confidence and creating meaningful social connections. Throughout the day, guests had the opportunity to learn more about the vision behind the initiative, hear from those involved and experience first-hand the positive impact inclusive opportunities can have within our communities.
At the Parklane Foundation, we believe in creating opportunities that help build better futures. This initiative reflects our commitment to developing projects that are not only accessible, but truly inclusive and supportive. Golf is often seen as a sport with barriers to entry, and through this programme we hope to change that perception by creating welcoming spaces where everyone feels encouraged to take part, regardless of age, background or experience.
The Inclusive Golf initiative will focus on supporting a wide range of individuals and communities through tailored sessions and accessible opportunities, including:
Individuals with disabilities, including those using prosthetics, with access to specialised equipment and coaching designed to build confidence, independence and new skills.
Older adults living with neurological conditions such as dementia and Parkinson’s, offering gentle and social activities that support both participants and their carers in a welcoming environment.
Women and girls, through safe and culturally sensitive sessions that remove barriers to participation and encourage those who may be new to the sport to get involved.
Children and young people, particularly from inner-city Leeds, with fun and accessible sessions aimed at engaging, inspiring and supporting participants with additional needs, including autism and neurodivergence.
The event also created a valuable opportunity for networking and collaboration. It was inspiring to see so many organisations and individuals come together with a shared commitment to improving access to sport, health and wellbeing activities across the region. The conversations and partnerships formed during the event reinforced the importance of community-led initiatives and the positive outcomes that can be achieved when people work together.
Guests enjoyed an engaging and relaxed atmosphere, with opportunities to connect, share ideas and discuss how inclusive sport can support both physical and mental wellbeing. The energy throughout the afternoon reflected the enthusiasm surrounding the programme and the difference it can make to people who may not otherwise have access to these experiences. The Coaches also took guests out on the practice greens and got them involved in some fun activities, while also giving tours of the facilities.
We would like to thank everyone who attended and supported the launch event. Your encouragement, collaboration and belief in the initiative will help us continue to grow and develop the programme in the months ahead.
This is only the beginning for Inclusive Golf, and we are excited to continue working with partners and communities to create opportunities that inspire confidence, improve wellbeing and bring people together.
